Prepping For Your Boudoir Session

What to wear

It’s safe to bring 2 outfits for the 1 hour session. And for the 2 hour session up to 4 outfits can work. At minimum you should have 2 so we can get a variety of shots!

A bra and matching pair of underwear is a staple . Black is an all-time classic and never goes out of style. You can always dress it up with some gorgeous jewelry and heels. These are just the basics. There are lots of colors and styles to choose from. Have fun! If you want dramatic sets think dramatic colors (red, black). If you want something soft and feminine think light and lacy.

Thigh-high stockings or fishnets: Stockings aren’t for everyone so don’t feel like you must wear them if you don’t like them. I do feel like they can bring an extra something to an outfit. So feel free to bring some along if you wanna try it out!

Heels are always a go to for shoes, but feel free to bring anything else that fits your style.

Jewelry/Accessories: Jewelry can add to anything but is not a must! Necklaces usually look best for standing poses. Laying down can make necklaces move and set awkward on chests. So through the session I can let you know when and when to not wear certain jewelry.

Consider normal everyday clothing as well! if you’re nervous about being too revealing try off the shoulder tees, cardigans, tank-tops, a fitted button up shirt, or a high-slit skirt/dress.

Prepping for the session

Remember to drink lots of water and get at least 8 hours of sleep before your boudoir session. If you are dehydrated from a late evening of drinking it will show on your skin.

It can be nice to have your nails done! If you want it simple be sure chipped nail polish is removed. Your hands and feet will be in the photos so try to be mindful of that. It can be great to let your feet soack and to give yourself a nice scrub to get rid of dead skin!

Tanning and self tanning can sometimes come off very orange in photos. I urge you to use caution when getting a bit of glow to the skin. If you are doing a spray tan please be cautious of the underwear you wear for the sprayer. Wear the thinest thong know to humankind or go bottomless to make sure we don’t have drastic lines on that tush!!

Remember to take the stickers off the bottom of your shoes and to clean them up a little!

If you are having your hair and makeup done at the studio please arrive with a clean face and dry hair. Day old hair works best for styling but be sure that it is not too oily.

Try not wear any clothes with elastic that are too tight fitting (including bras and panties) to your boudoir photo session. The elastic will leave marks on your skin that can take an hour or more to fade. The same is true for anything else like a wristwatch, socks/shoes or a bracelet. The best clothing to wear to your boudoir session is either drawstring or yoga pants and a loose shirt or a slip-on dress.

Cut off tags before the session.

If you’re getting a wax or tan do it days before so your skin can settle.

Shaving two days before can be best to avoid irritation if you’re prone to it. And bringing lotion can help! Some people also like to use certain oils the week leading up to the wedding that can sooth the legs. I would just avoid any oils the day of to not stain sheets. Also don’t try any new skin care routines too close to the session as well in case there is a reaction.

Feel free to bring along pasies if you feel like you might need them.

Preparing the day of

Mosturie the morning of the session.

Use clear deodorant.

Wear loose clothing and possibly no underwear/bra to the session so you can avoid lines on the skin. If you do need to wear those try to wear one that wont dig into the skin too much.

In house Outfits

Here are some things I have that you can use at your session. PLease screen capture anything that stands out to you that you would love to use and send it to me so I can be sure to have it at the session!
